Surf Stay
Do I need previous surf experience?
Not at all. Most of our guests arrive as complete beginners. Our coaches are used to working with people who have never been on a board before.
All levels are welcome at Darna — from never-touched-a-board to intermediate and advanced surfers working on their technique. Groups are split by level so each session is always pitched at the right level for you.
Which package is right for my level?
Both packages are suitable for all surf levels. The difference is what else is included alongside the coaching:
- Surf Stay — focused surf coaching, video analysis, and accommodation. Ideal for anyone who wants to maximise time in the water.
- Surf & Yoga — daily surf sessions combined with morning yoga. Perfect for those who want physical and mental balance alongside their surfing.
Not sure? Message us and we'll point you in the right direction.
Are surfboards and wetsuits included?
Yes. All surfboards, wetsuits, leashes, and wax are included in every package. You do not need to bring, hire, or purchase any surf equipment. Our coaches select the right board for your level and body before every session.
How many surf sessions are included each day?
The core of the programme is one coached surf session each morning. On suitable days there is also an afternoon session — conditions and tides guide the timing. Sessions include in-water coaching, spot selection, and a debrief afterwards.
Mid-week we typically review footage from your sessions so you can see what's working and what to focus on.
How many students per instructor?
We keep groups small — a maximum of 6 students per coach. Smaller groups mean more individual feedback, more time on the board, and faster progression. This is one of the things that consistently sets Darna apart in guest reviews.
What happens if the surf is flat?
Completely flat days are rare on the Atlantic coast in Tamraght, but when they happen, we adapt. Options include:
- Sessions at alternative spots further along the coast where swell is more consistent
- Land-based surf training and theory
- Surf skate sessions to work on flow and balance
- Video analysis of the week's footage
Your week is never wasted. We always find something productive and enjoyable to do.
Accommodation
What room types do you offer?
Darna has eight rooms across three floors. We offer three room types:
- Shared Triple Room — three beds in one room, shared with other guests. The most social option and the best value.
- Double or Twin Room — a double bed or two single beds, shared between two people (a couple, two friends, or two solo guests).
- Single Room — a private room for one person.
All rooms are cleaned daily and include fresh bed linen and bathroom towels. Beach towels are not provided — we recommend bringing your own. See all rooms.
Can I book a single room?
Yes. We have single room options available. Use the booking page to check availability and pricing for your dates, or message us on WhatsApp.
Can I book a shared room as a solo traveler?
Yes. Solo travelers often choose shared triple rooms to keep costs lower and meet other guests more easily. Shared rooms are a great option for solo travelers — most of the friendships made at Darna start in the shared rooms and on the rooftop terrace.
Are towels and linens provided?
Yes. Fresh towels and bed linens are provided and rooms are cleaned daily. You do not need to bring bedding or bath towels. We do not provide beach towels, so we recommend bringing your own.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house, including on the rooftop terrace. Connection is reliable for video calls and general use.
Food
Are meals included in the package?
Yes. Three Moroccan meals per day are included in every package — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All meals are freshly prepared and served at the house. Expect tagines, couscous, fresh salads, warm bread, fruit, and Moroccan mint tea.
Eating at Darna is one of the highlights of the stay — our guests regularly tell us the food exceeded all expectations.
Can you accommodate vegetarian diets?
Yes, always. Vegetarian options are a standard part of every meal at Darna. You don't need to request it in advance — there is always a full vegetarian option available.
Can you accommodate vegan diets?
Yes. Please let us know you're vegan when booking so we can prepare accordingly. Traditional Moroccan cuisine naturally lends itself to plant-based cooking — lentils, chickpeas, vegetables, and spiced grains are all staples of the menu.
Can you accommodate food allergies?
Yes. Please inform us of any allergies or intolerances when booking — mention it in the message field on the booking form or send us a WhatsApp message. We take dietary needs seriously and will adapt the kitchen accordingly.
Travel & Arrival
Which airport should I fly into?
Fly into Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA). It is approximately 20 minutes from Tamraght and the only airport for which we include a transfer in the package. Direct flights operate from the UK, most of Europe, and beyond.
Is airport transfer included?
Yes. A return transfer between Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA) and Darna is included in all packages. After booking, send us your flight details on WhatsApp and we will arrange the pickup. We collect guests at any time of day or night — early morning or late arrival, no problem.
Can I arrive on any day of the week?
Yes. There are no fixed start dates at Darna. Your week begins the day you arrive, regardless of the day of the week. Surf sessions, meals, and activities are organised around your arrival date. Minimum stay is 3 nights.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
You can arrive at any time of day or night — there are no strict check-in windows. If your room is ready when you arrive, you go straight in. If it's still being prepared, we'll look after your luggage and you can settle in as soon as it's ready.
Check-out is by 11:00 am. If your flight is later in the day, we're happy to store your bags so you can make the most of your last few hours.

How do I reserve my spot?
The quickest way is to message us on WhatsApp with your preferred dates, number of guests, and package. We confirm availability within minutes. You can also use our booking page to get an instant estimate and submit a booking request in one step.
Your spot is confirmed once the deposit is received.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A non-refundable deposit of €30 per person is required to confirm your booking and hold your spot. The remaining balance is paid in cash on arrival. We will send you the deposit payment details once you confirm your dates.
What payment methods do you accept?
We will send you the deposit payment details after you confirm your dates. The remaining balance is paid in cash on arrival — in Euros (EUR) or Moroccan Dirhams (MAD). We do not accept card payments.
What is the cancellation policy?
The €30 deposit per person is non-refundable. If you cancel before arriving, that is the only amount you lose — the balance is paid on arrival, so nothing else is owed.
If you arrive and need to leave early, we are not able to refund unused nights or services. We recommend having travel insurance in case plans change unexpectedly.
If you need to reschedule rather than cancel, contact us and we will do our best to find alternative dates.
General
Can I come alone?
Absolutely. Solo travelers make up a large proportion of our guests. The atmosphere at Darna is naturally social — shared meals, shared sessions, shared rooftop sunsets. Most solo guests leave having made genuine friendships with people from across the world. Many come back the following year with the same people they met here.
Is Darna suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The beach breaks near Tamraght are sandy, consistent, and genuinely forgiving — a good environment to learn in. Our coaches have worked with hundreds of first-timers and know how to read what each guest needs.
Most beginners make noticeable progress over the course of a week — though how fast you advance depends on the conditions, your fitness, and where you start from. We won't make specific promises; we'll focus on helping you improve.
What should I bring?
Keep it light. The main things to bring:
- Light clothing for warm weather (Morocco is warm year-round)
- Swimwear (2–3 pairs)
- High-SPF sunscreen — the Atlantic sun is strong even on cloudy days
- Sunglasses and a hat
- A beach towel
- Personal toiletries and any medications
- A travel adapter if needed (Morocco uses Type C/E sockets)
You do not need to bring a surfboard, wetsuit, leash, fins, or any surf equipment. Everything is provided.
What activities are available besides surfing?
Morocco offers a great deal beyond the waves. Optional excursions can be arranged during your stay at extra cost:
- Paradise Valley — a full-day trip through Atlas Mountain gorges
- Sandboarding — half-day on the dunes south of Agadir
- Imsouane day trip — Morocco's longest wave, 1 hour north
- Agadir souk visit — local market and Moroccan culture
- Surf skate sessions
- Camel ride on the beach
Yoga sessions are included as part of the Surf & Yoga package; they are not included in the standard Surf Stay. See all activities and excursions.
What is the best time of year to visit?
Tamraght has surf year-round, which is one of its biggest advantages over most European destinations. That said, each season has its character:
- Autumn (September–November): Consistent swell, warm water, fewer crowds. One of the best times to visit.
- Winter (December–February): The most powerful surf of the year. Air temperatures stay mild (18–22°C). Ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers.
- Spring (March–May): Excellent conditions, warm and uncrowded. Great for beginners and intermediates.
- Summer (June–August): Calmer surf and warm weather — the most popular time for beginners and families.
